Another important factor is the fact that Osama Bin Laden had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks of 9-11 and has been DEAD for over 8 years. Gen. Speaking such a judgement against another person is a serious thing to do and one should hesitate long and hard before making such a speculative leap. Christ counsels against it.

ReplyDeleteSurely God reads the heart. I find it impossible to believe in a God who would condemn to hell a love-filled spirit that framed their universal affirmations for life and persons around them in words that did not comply with a particular format.
Words, in themselves, are empty no matter how noble and no matter how true.
As a Catholic who has known a priest-abuser this is obvious to me.
Did Christ not say as much in his parable of the 'Good Samaritan' who, though outside the chosen people, was closer to God than the priest and the Levite.
It is interesting that Christ mostly taught through parables. He did not speak directly. He was not a literalist Himself. When He spoke of moral and esoteric truth He said what it was like rather than what it was, for surely it is beyond human language to describe the glory of God, the heavenly realm and the Holy Spirit that possesses and exists inwardly through invitation is the souls of all persons of good (or Godly) intent.
I believe that I am a fallen creature trying to raise myself back to full communion with my creator. Any good I do is through undeserved gifts for which I can claim no credit. If I can put one foot in front of the other, this also is a gift for which I try to be supremely grateful. The Holy Spirit is with me in more ways than I know.
However, I remain a sinner capable of showing selfish anger, using bad language and performing who knows what ghastly unchristian deeds if I am pushed far enough.
